One more day to go and I think these are some of the best pictures I have of the 1098.  The wife and I did an engagement photo session and included the Ducati in it.  She never rides the bike but she does tell me a lot how it is her favorite one just because of the looks of it.   Photo credit goes to Sandi Rufo Photography, she does amazing work.

This is a screen grab from the riding I did yesterday.  The pic really isn’t much to write home about but I feel good about what I have been doing.  We got an invite to a private motorcross track and took full advantage of it.  I have never ridden a MX track before and it was a lot of fun i’m starting to get comfy in the air which is cool.

I have progressed so much in dirt the last year I can’t wait to see what this season brings for me.

Dipping into the archives a bit more here but not as far back, with the move to the new apartment I haven’t had a lot of riding time.  That is until today!  But until I get those pics up you have to settle for the following!

This is a pic from another adventure I had this summer when i was…………..by myself!  I popped the tube and had to change the tire in 90+ degree heat in the shade.  I almost ran out of water and ended up having to ride out on a flat tire since I couldn’t get the tube patched after three tries.  The worst part is I got out of the trail and all I had that was cold in my truck was a corona so I drank that…….it’s like 95% water anyways right?

This was a big o sh*t moment for me as I had never changed a tube with just tire irons before.  I was prepared though and had everything including the pump with me but still couldn’t get it right!  What’s a big o sh*t moment for you?  Were you prepared for the worst?

When I first bought my Ducati 1098 I had grand dreams of riding everywhere on it.  I did follow through on most of them and my 2nd summer of ownership I took a solo trip to the dragon from NY.  I spent four and half days and 2000+ miles on a torture rack of an italian motorcycle.  It rained it poured the temps dipped below reasonable levels and the sun did peek out every once and a while.  O and not to mention the time I hit the killswitch at 80mph at 11pm at night still 700 miles from home……..I panicked thinking the bike died on me!  But it just made everything that much more fun!  I couldn’t think of a better steed for the trip as it made every single turn that much more exciting.  This is a picture from it.

Of course afterwards advil was my best friend for the next week!  This is so far my greatest motorcycle trip yet I need to do it again sometime.  Or maybe go somewhere else like cross country on the same bike! I have a whole ride report for it too i’ll have to post it some time.  What is your favorite trip?

I don’t know when they got here or how they got here but while riding around in a snowstorm on some quads we came upon these shipwrecks on our local beaches.  I have lived here my entire life and never seen them until now, it is a really cool sight.

The prop is metal so it can’t be too old.

Another cool thing about living on this island, I hope one day to get into scuba diving and see what lays under the water near these and other spots on the island.  What unknown records of decades past do you have out by you?
