Umm, is it winter or spring?

Ok, I have issues with this ridiculous weather we have had since NOVEMBER!!  Seriously, what is the deal?  It’s funny, life seems so bland and predictable sometimes..Like every day over the past few years has been exactly the same.  The last time we had a winter like this was over 10 years ago.

Finally, this year I buy a new car and motorcycle…just because.  This was my first new car I had since I was 16.  The cars I owned before this one were the work of the devil.  As for the motrocycle, it’s been a few years since I swung a leg over a sportbike.

So, you can imagine how psyched I am to ride my ass of this season..Here is the problem.. It snows every other day!  One day I would love to tear the shite out of some roads..but when exactly is this going to happen?
When exactly will the roads be free of salt and gravel?

My eyes are glued to every weather broadcast online or on the teli..I am convinced that the high pressure system that has been over Canada since November, is not moving unitl June 2008.  I need the sunshine.  I need the feeling of walking outside and not feeling hot or cold.  Everyone knows that feeling..Where the f–k are the birds?  The flowers?  hmm..It’s that damn thing over Canada.

Seriously, this winter/spring is like a very long commercial during WSB on the Speed Channel.  I just want to see the races.  I don’t give a shite about a mortgage or bank loan that will save me hundreds of dollars.

When will the commercial end?

Every Day is like Sunday

Took a spin out by myself today. Everyone is gone for the day – Fuzz is with Chloe seeing the sites of Eastern Long Island, Myko is up hanging his art in Boston for his months-long exhibit. I am left to my own devices.

The weather threatened to be a chilly 30s-40s – well, according to the jackasses at inaccuweather.com. They have been consistently wrong these past few weeks, and today is no different. It’s about 50 degrees, with a slight chilly breeze.

I decide to stay local – head down to the ocean for a quick pass-by. Then shoot over to a park and take some pics of the new ride. What a nice day – thank god I got out here for at least a little while. I wish the others were here :( .

Flim Flam Weathermen!

Exactly what does 50% chance of rain mean?

It means it is going to rain, or it isn’t going to rain.  Don’t we already know that?  This is the biggest scam employment opportunity ever conceived.  After spending years of training in schools across the country, degrees in meteorology, masters programs in post doctoral work, the best estimate they can come up with for the weekend weather is a `50% chance of rain`.

This is an occupation that seriously needs governmental intervention.   Freakin’ scam, I tell you!

Fragile

Lately, i guess i feel the fragility of life. When trouble strikes close to home, you sort of re-evaluate your whole perspective on things. I’m afraid i am not ‘living’ enough. I need to do more, see more, go, go, go. I get freaked out cuz i can’t slow down time. I need to learn to savor the moment that i am in and not be looking for the next best thing.

Brrr, the Ear, and stupid 7th gear

Well, I rode into work, and was going to ride into NYC right from there – and I am SO glad I decided to go home and put on some thermals. I met up with Fuzz at the park & ride, and she was clearly NOT HAPPY about the temperature. It`s crazy how you can go 1 half hour east, and the temperature drops 10 degrees.

Off we head into NYC. I am almost at 1000 miles on the 6r, and I`ll tell you, if I shift into 7th gear one mroe time I am giving it away. I am so not used to hearing the bike whine out like an inline does, and there I am, looking for an extra shift. I am dumb.

Traffic as usual as we finally get to the Williamsburg bridge and cross into the city. Fuzz is awfully quiet, she hasn`t been feeling well, so either she still feels sick, or she hates me. We cross the city streets, and are the first to arrive at the Ear. Myko and Ronnie Bravo are coming in fron NJ, and should be here any minute.

I meet the infamous Ron – he is as goofy and fun as the rest of us, and we spend the nite telling tales, goofing off, just being. What a great time, these are some great folks and I sit there thinking about how great its going to be this summer. Ron is popping off pictures of `stuff`, we are surrounded by BMW GS`s, and Ducati elitists. Ron`s got a 748 too, another snob. Myko and I revel in our happiness over our bikes. It`s wierd that we both have the same feelings about them, it`s like Kawasaki made them for just us.

1 more diet coke and we decide to call it a nite. man, what a great time, jsut hanging out on a street corner in front of a bar, shooting the shit and enjoying good company. We say our goodbyes, and once again, feel bummed as Myko and Ron ride off.

Well, it`s not too cold – I feel like the ride will be ok, not too chilly. We stop off in Queens for gas, and meet a wacky guy who rode a kz1000 across the country a few times. Oh the people you meet. When we hit rt 107, a wave of cold air comes across us. Man its cold. I decide to pass my exit and ride a little further with fuzz, offer my solidarity in braving the weather. By the time we get to exit 48, man, its really fn freezing. I feel horrible for fuzz, I know how cold it is going to be as she gets closer to home. I wave goodbye, shift into 7th one more time, and head home.
